1. About these terms
These terms apply to every quote we give and every order we accept. By accepting a quote or placing an order, you agree to them. If anything in your purchase order conflicts with these terms, these terms apply unless we agree otherwise in writing.
2. Who we are
Railside Automation Supply is an independent supplier of industrial automation products. We are not an authorised distributor of Rockwell Automation, ABB, Omron, Mitsubishi Electric or any other manufacturer whose products we sell, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by them. Brand names and catalogue numbers are used only to identify products.
3. Quotes and prices
Quotes are valid for 7 days from the quote date, unless the quote says otherwise.
Prices are in Australian dollars and exclude GST unless stated. GST is added at the current rate.
Delivery to the address on the quote is free for orders over $1,000 ex GST. Smaller orders include a delivery charge, shown on the quote.
Quotes are subject to stock being available from our supplier when you place your order. If an item is no longer available, we will tell you and either remove it from the order or offer an alternative catalogue number for you to confirm.
If our supply costs change by more than 3% between the quote date and the date you accept and pay, we may re-quote before accepting your order. You can then accept the revised quote or withdraw without cost.
We may correct obvious errors in a quote before we accept your order.
4. Orders and acceptance
You place an order by accepting our quote in writing and paying as set out in clause 5. A contract is formed when we confirm your order in writing. We may decline any order.
5. Payment
Unless you hold an approved trade account, full payment is required before we place your order with our supplier.
For large or special orders we may ask for a deposit, with the balance due before dispatch.
Trade account customers pay on the terms set out in their account approval. We may suspend supply if an account is overdue.
Ownership of the goods stays with us until we have received payment in full.
6. Delivery
Most orders arrive within 5 to 10 business days of payment. Lead times are estimates, not guarantees, and can be affected by supplier stock and freight. We will keep you informed of any delay.
Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery.
Please check goods on arrival. Report missing items or transit damage within 2 business days, with photos.
7. Cancellations and changes
Once we have placed your order with our supplier, it cannot be cancelled or changed without our agreement. If we agree, you may need to pay any costs we cannot recover, such as supplier cancellation, freight and restocking charges.
8. Choosing the right product
We supply the catalogue numbers you specify. Selection, suitability and compatibility for your application are your responsibility, and we do not provide technical or design advice.
If we offer an alternative catalogue number (for example, where an item is unavailable), it is offered for your consideration only. Please confirm it suits your application before ordering.
Product images may be representative of the product family and may differ from the item supplied. Descriptions are for identification only. Check the catalogue number and manufacturer specifications before ordering.

11. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
The warranty below is in addition to those rights.
Our 12-month warranty
We warrant that new products we supply will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for 12 months from the date of delivery. Refurbished products, where supplied by agreement, carry the same 12-month warranty.
If a product fails within the warranty period because of a defect, we will repair it, replace it with the same or an equivalent product, or refund the purchase price. Repair, replacement or refund is at our choice, subject to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
What the warranty does not cover
Damage from incorrect installation, wiring or configuration
Damage from supply faults, overvoltage, lightning or power surges
Water, dust or chemical ingress beyond the product's rated protection
Operation outside the manufacturer's specifications
Misuse, accident, modification or repair by anyone other than us
Normal wear and tear, including fans, batteries and other consumable parts
Labour to remove or reinstall the product, and lost production or downtime
Dead on arrival
If a product does not work when first installed, tell us within 5 business days of delivery. We will treat it as a priority claim and arrange a replacement as quickly as our supply allows.
How to make a claim
Contact us by email at [email protected] with your order number, the catalogue number and serial number, a description of the fault, and photos of the product and its installation where possible.
We may ask you to return the product for testing. We will give you a return authorisation number. Please do not send products back without one.
If the claim is accepted, we will cover reasonable return freight. If testing finds no fault, or the fault is not covered, we will discuss the options with you before doing any further work.
We aim to assess claims within 5 business days of receiving the product.
Change-of-mind returns
We supply to order and do not accept change-of-mind returns. Please check catalogue numbers carefully before ordering.
This does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law if a product is faulty, not as described or not fit for purpose.
